2005 Polonia Schedule
6 September 2005 - Polonia Hamilton
Polonia Hamilton defeats East Hamilton A 4-3(1-2) in a close match. Lukasz Pawlowski put Polonia Hamilton ahead 1-0 after he scored with a stunning free-kick into the top right corner from 20 yards out. East Hamilton scored a goal 10 minutes later to bring the score back to even, 1-1. East Hamilton then scored another goal around the 40th minute mark, 2-1. After some good team talk from coach Bogdan Kwapisz at half time, Polonia Hamilton turned the game around. Janusz Szymala made a good run down the left side of the field and passed the ball inside the box to Grzegorz Szlachetka. Szlachetka shot the ball but it hit the right post. Mateusz Skorski pounced on the ball and put it into the top of the net to tie the scores at 2-2. Just minutes later, again great build up from Polonia Hamilton lead to another goal. Janusz Szymala picked out Mateusz Skorski who was making a run on the right wing. Skorski then crossed the ball from the right side to Rafal Wisniewski who scored into the lower right corner, 3-2 for Polonia Hamilton. Some bad marking from Polonia, East Ham scored again from a freekick 18 yards out. East Hamilton played the ball low to a player who scored on goalkeeper Daniel Lonc. Polonia didn't give up the fight as more chances came from Lukasz Pawlowski, Janusz Szymala, Mateusz Skorski and Gregorz Szlachetka. Eventually the chances paid off. Polonia on the counter attack, Pawlowski to Michal, Michal to Szlachetka, Szlachetka makes a good run forward. Szlachetka to Szymala. Janusz Szymala goes by 2 defenders and scores into the low right corner of the net!!!! Polonia held onto the 4-3 lead until the final whistle. Practice on Piątek 6:30PM.

Polonia Hamilton 0-1 (0-1) Olimpia Toronto
Despite the score line, this was probably Polonia's best games of the tournament. Polonia played very well in this game and created more chances than Olimpia. Olimpia opened the scoring in the first half from an unexpected goal. Polonia Hamilton where unlucky in the first half when forward Tomek Bocyk was on a breakaway and was tackled very hard from the last-man defender just on the line of the 18 yard box. Bad luck showed when the referee only pulled out a yellow card to the defender when it was clear that a red card should have been given. Janusz Szymala also had a great chance in the first half but Olimpia goalkeeper came up big. In the second half Polonia's best chance came from Kuba Jablonski when he got on the end of a corner but just put it inches over the bar.
Polonia Hamilton 0-5 (0-3) Wisla Burlington
Polonia is defeated 5-0 to Wisla Burlington which mathematically knocks Polonia out of the second group phase.
Polonia Hamilton 0-4 (0-2) Polonia Windsor

Polonia missed a number of chances with Chris Poweska coming up short a few times in the game. Lukasz, Moe, & Tomek also had good scoring chances. Brantford could have stolen the 3 points if it was not for Polonia's goalie Tomek Laskowski. He made numerous saves to preserve the 1 to 1 draw. Next game on Sunday vs Slovenia! 29 July 2005 - Polonia Hamilton
Polonia Hamilton is defeated by Hamilton Hellenic 3-0 in a very exciting and controversial match. Polonia Hamilton's best chances of the first half game from Chris Poweska and Moe. Hellenic had two shots on target in the first half, and those two were the ones that made it 2-0. Both shots very verypowerful and well placed into the corners, goalie Tomek Laskowski had no chance. Early in the second half, a defensive mistake lead to the third goal for Hellenic. Polonia's best chances in the second half came from Janusz, Tomek, Lukasz plus Mateusz and Eric who both struck the post. Unfortunate result. Polonia never gave up as the team produced numerous chances on goal but weren't able to capitalize. One of Polonia's best chances was when Lukasz Pawlowski intercepted the ball at half, and ran through 5 Dundas players all the way to the penalty box. But with two Dundas defenders sliding at him, his shot went over the bar. Dundas came very close to pulling off the win in the dying seconds of the second half. There was a big scramble infront of th net and somehow the ball managed to roll past a couple defenders plus the goalie, but luckily just hitting the post and being cleared out for a corner. The final whistle blew seconds later. Next game Friday July 29 2005 at Mohawk 2 vs Hellenic. Practice on Tuesday + Thursday 7:00PM.
